Importing Data into Excel from Easy InnKeeping

 

  1. Open a worksheet in Excel and click the cell where you want to start the external data range.
  2. On the Data menu, point to Get External Data, and then click Create New Query.
  3. Type in a name for the data source
  4. Select Microsoft Visual Fox Pro Driver
  5. Click on Connect button
  6.  

  7. In the next screen, Configure Connection, make sure Visual FoxPro Database is selected.
  8. Browse and find the EasyInn.dbc file under C:EasyInn/Database
  9.  

  10. After selecting the file, click on OK.
  11. You will now return again to the "Create New Data Source" screen. Select the guestinfo table for Guest Names and addresses.
  12. This brings the list of tables present in the database. Follow this chart of information for the reports you want:

    Revenue Report for Sales Items

    Guest Addresses/Info

  14. After selecting table, you will return to the Choose database screen. Click OK.

  16. Next is Query Wizard - follow instructions in Wizard.
  17. To return the data directly to Microsoft Excel, click Return Data to Microsoft Excel, click Finish, and then select where you want to put the external data.

To refine the query further, click View data or edit query in Microsoft Query, click Finish, and then make the changes you want. For more information about refining the results of a query, see Microsoft Query Help.

If you choose to refine the query further in Microsoft Query, the result set is displayed in Microsoft Query. If you want, you can return the result set to Microsoft Excel at a later time.
